Ember Collins was your usual happy playful kid. She grew up in the country, with her mom, dad, and big brother Eric. She loved to spend weekends outside enjoying the nature with her dad. Learning to shoot a gun at a young age, her father always brought her deer hunting.

Her mother Veronica loved to bake and share that with little Ember. Her pies, cookies and cakes were sold at the local farmers market on Wednesdays. During the day Ember would stand on a chair and help her mom with the cookie dough. She always let Ember lick the spoon!

Being from a small town some would say Ember was a simple small town girl, and she was. Quiet but also had a feisty side. When it came to her senior year and she was deciding on where to attend college, she choose to go far away. Needing to find some more independency and not attend a local University.. The decision was made and she would be going half way across country. Majoring in  Environmental Studies. The abundant love for nature and the environment made it easy for her to make up her mind.

When she told her parents she wanted to attend The University of Oklahoma, they were reluctant to let her leave. Eric went into the Army and they were not ready to let their little girl go thousands of miles away.

With trips to visit the campus and lots of research, they caved and Ember applied. Hearing back she was excepted for the fall semester, she was ecstatic.

It was move in day when she met now best friend Cambria. Cambria was from L.A.  She was a rock n roll kind of girl. Ember and Cambria were like Peanut butter and Jelly, Cheese and Crackers. They both were unique in their own way but alike in others. Cambria loved rock and roll music and Ember liked country music. But one thing was for sure, these two girls were bonded for life.

It was nearing the Christmas Break and the end of four long but rewarding years at college for Ember. She was very excited yet nervous for her new journey in to the real world. Sitting on her bed, preparing herself for her last and final exam. Her hands could hardly hold the pencil they were so clammy. She knew in her heart she  would do just fine on the test. She had been studying and knew the material like the back of her hand.

Instead of going back to Ash Harbor to spend Christmas with her family, she is spending the holiday with her roommate of 4 years Cambria and two of their other girlfriends. Cambria's brother rented her a luxurious cabin for Christmas and told her to bring her friends along! He would be staying in a smaller cabin near by as well.  Ember was looking forward to having some fun girl time. Let loose and just breath before it was time to get serious.

Walking in humming a new tune Cambria plopped onto Ember's bed! She was super excited about the trip.

Cambria- Are ya ready Em!!!
Ember- Yes, I just gotta take this last exam
Cambria- Ok, well listen once your done get your ass on that plane.


Ember laughed at Cambria's bossiness. Even with them being complete opposites, they were completely inseparable. Ember really hoped that once they were finished with college,  they wouldn't loose the friendship they created.

Cambria- ok, so just take a cab or whatever out to the cabin. I will send you the info in a text.
Ember- great! Ok so are yall heading out now?
Cambria- In about a half hour. I am ready to kick back and just chill.

Ember- I look forward to relaxing too. I am so beat after studying for this last semester.

Cambria- listen were going to drink to our hearts are content and pig out. I so love my brother for doing this for me, he's always been so good to me.

Ember- its a super amazing gift. I know Eric is upset I am not going home for Christmas, but I'll be home soon.

Cambria- that's right, well come on get your country ass to that last exam and lets get to drinking!

Ember just laughed, Cambria was so free with her words.

Ember- you guys be careful...

Cambria- we will text ya when we land! peace chicka!!!

And like that Cambria was gone. Ember's mind came rushing back instantly to the test. She really needed this trip more then anything to relieve her mind of any more school work.

Cambria's brother was so generous to plan this trip for her and her friends. It got her thinking of the closeness of her and Eric. Pulling up his number in the text messages, she decided to send him a message.

Ember: I just wanted to say love ya big brother... I leave for Aspen later today.

Her phone buzzed shortly after she sent her message.

Eric: be safe and I love ya sis. See you when you get back. And behave don't do anything stupid!

Ember: haha ok love you!

Eric: love you

Smiling at the phone she put it down. Putting her hands together she prayed for a stress free test and a safe flight to Aspen.

Realizing she needed to head over to the building across town to take her test. Scooting to the edge of the bed, she grabbed her boots and slid them on.

It was time for Ember to spread her wings, time to explore and see new things. Time to start a new Chapter in her life!
